Crown Cork and Seal
Ridgeway, VA
Southern Air earned the design/build contracts on the 355,000 square foot Crown Cork and Seal factory to complete the structure of the plant’s mechanical, electrical, plumbing and piping.

Southern Air provided the electrical infrastructure and pathways for each individual system, to include the theatrical lighting and sound, fire alarms and curtains, motorized banners, and pit fall. In total, Southern Air installed 234,000 feet of wire, which is roughly 45 miles in length, 70,000 feet of conduit and 1,800 feet of LED lighting along with 1,200 light fixtures as part of this project.

Southern Air earned the design-assist mechanical, plumbing, and med- gas for the 212,000 square foot facility, installing the mechanical HVAC systems, controls, five large DX Trane rooftop units, an air handler, make-up air unit, and more than 400 hot water reheat VAV systems.

Southern Air ’s work on the new 51,000 square foot building i included the mechanical design for the project revolving around packaged Rooftop Units (RTUs) with Variable Air Volume (VAV) distribution. To provide heating capabilities, the VAVs were equipped with electric heat. On the plumbing side, the design included bathrooms, a small prep kitchen, safety fixtures for science labs, a domestic water booster pump, and a domestic hot water system.
